Meet Steve Goodwin and get crucial insight into Bett 2017
Steve, tell us a bit more about your role and expertise…
Having been involved in educational technology for more than 20 years (When the only windows we had access to were double glazed!), I now work within Midwich Technical, as part of the Business Development Team.
We're an external resource, providing technical product expertise and assisting with the tricky bits such as signal switching, extension and control. We also advise on applications such as digital signage, videowall processing and audio and video conferencing as well as providing LED and security support.
What are you most looking forward to at Bett 2017?
I’m going to be on the lookout for interesting software interfaces, I believe this is the key to accessing technology for the masses, so I’m interested in how content and resources can be made easily accessible and how these may integrate with Midwich brands such as Atlona, AMX and mainline interactive displays.
I'm eager to drop by Samsung on stand F205 as we're now exclusively distributing a range of Samsung E-board Interactive products. I'm told there are daily prizes to win an e-board and the stand will comprise of three interactive learning zones, each concentrating on a different subject and learning style with a reception area too.
What's big in education technology in 2017?
I’m always interested to see how the IT and AV sector convergence is developing, and Bett is a good mix of both disciplines. AV over IP technology will be big in 2017, this technology enables you to send AV signals over IP networks (rather than just using the same cable types). This is game-changing technology, as it really does allow any signal to be sent and received anywhere on the network – this should excite a lot of the ICT managers attending the show!
Where can we find you at Bett this year?
I am 'floating' at Bett this year, I’ll be looking at the brands and technologies that are exciting and inspiring end-users in the education technology community.
I'm looking forward to catching up with many of our IT customers that will be exhibiting and a number of key Midwich brands including one of the newest – Balance Box. They're showcasing manual height adjustable systems/mounts for interactive touch displays clearly showing the range of products available at this fantastic expo.
If anyone would like to make contact with me I’ll drop some business cards off at our sister company, Holdan Ltd on Stand B446. If you would like to arrange to meet at the show call me on 07870 559028 or email steve.goodwin@midwich.com
